Using Humour in Your Marketing
Everyone love s a bit of humour don’t they? So why not use it in your marketing?
I’m not talking about chickens crossing roads kind of humour. Dad jokes and dodgy jokes from crackers.
Storytelling with a bit of humour thrown in never hurts.
The jury is still out whether throwing in swear words is a good idea. Personally, I don’t like it and I find it a bit too ‘try-hard’.
I’m a huge fan of David Ogilvy – sadly no longer with us. He was a maestro of the throwaway one-liners in his marketing copy. This for example, “The consumer isn’t a moron; she’s your wife.”
He also says “You can’t bore people into buying your product; you can only interest them in buying it.”
And isn’t that the truth.
How many adverts have you read or watched that bore you to tears. And then you still have no idea what they’re selling?
Everyone is putting out acres of content today and you need to get yours read and for it to rise to the top. So ditch the Vanilla Essence and add a few drops of Tabasco to the mix. Don’t be afraid to be more you as that will attract the clients you want to your business and detract the ones you don’t. And that’s where the magic lies.
Anyone know a good joke?
